Mobile Crèches was founded in 1969 in Delhi on the belief that every child has the fundamental right to security, education, health care and protection. Running day care centers on construction sites for the past 37 years, Mobile Crèches has run over 500 centers in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune and reached out to over 650,000 children.

Today in Mumbai, Mobile Crèches runs 23 centers – 18 on construction sites, 2 in slums and 3 special projects. Centers are open six days a week from 8:45am – 4:30pm every day. It is the only NGO in the city that specifically targets children on construction sites. Every year Mumbai Mobile Crèches reaches over 4000 children – but is still only a small fraction of those in need, because there are hundreds of construction sites in Mumbai .

 
  Atma Mumbai has partnered with Mobile Crèches since October 2006, and will work together towards the following goals in 2008:

•  Assistance to Mumbai Mobile Crèches in the development of an organizational plan, and operating structure for increased efficiency and future sustainability. 
•  Support to articulate long-term vision and mission, and begin work on three year business plan.
•  Develop a fundraising and income strategy for organization, defining fundraising responsibility, including expansion plans and corpus development.
•  Development of a marketing plan for the organization, including key materials: brochure, PowerPoint presentation, report, proposal.
•  Professional development sessions for Mumbai Mobile Crèches staff through Atma Mumbai workshops.
•  Engaging volunteers in various operational roles within the organization.
•  Facilitate in opening dialogue with other organizations working in the same field.
