On Saturday 12th of January a group of enthusiastic and fit Dutchmen arrived at Mumbai Airport . They were ready to begin a week preparing for the 42,196 kilometers ahead of them and were excited to explore the city of Mumbai and visit the projects of Atma Mumbai.
Nearly everyday the group took off at Bandra Bandstand to get accustomed to the heat and humidity and above all smog of Mumbai. After the morning training different activities were planned. Intriguing was the Daravi slum tour, the biggest slum of Asia , where the group was given a tour and the conditions and work of the slum explained. Another tour took them to the Hajeli Mosque, the Mahallakhmi Temple, the Gateway of India and the Dobhighats; a big outdoor manual washing place in the heart of Mumbai. The runners were well taken care off by the organization team! Most meals were prepared by the organizing team; we have never seen such a variety of pasta in our lives! |
